Last week, Jen and I came home to find a rather peculiar sight: a UPS delivery tag on the door with the delivery time listed as 2:00pm, and the location marked as "porch".
We don't have a porch accessible from outside, so we figured it was a mismark and our package was at the front office. Upon entering the appartment, we discovered a bit of a surprise. There was a brown box lying in the flower box right on top of some of Jen's flowers. We looked at each other, and walked out onto the balcony. Apparently the UPS delivery guy didn't feel like taking the time to drop the box off at the front office.
Now normally leaving a box on the front porch isn't a problem when you are at a house - or on ground level. Jen and I live on the second story of our building, which means the UPS guy stuck the tag on our door, and then proceeded to hurl the box up and over our railing, and into our flowers, apparently considering that a "good" delivery.
I called UPS customer support and explained the problem with this, and they promised to take action. I would hope that for $50k a year, the UPS delivery guy would show a little more consideration for the items in his care.
Incidentally, the contents were crushed, but that was due to incompetence at the mail room of the sending company, not UPS.

Is this one of the jobs that White Americans find too demeaning to do?
